Valentine’s Day in Loveland

In the nation’s Sweetheart City, Valentine’s Day is more than a day – it is a celebration of Everything You Love. Here, romantic heart-shaped love notes dot the streets. Art and sculpture take new forms and local craft brews are transformed into love potion. Read about all the happenings below and check back often for updates.

Loveland’s Love Lock Sculpture

Come see Colorado’s largest LOVE sign at its permanent location (except for when it will be at the Sweetheart Festival) at the Loveland Visitors Center. This sculpture was designed and manufactured in Loveland. Visitors can purchase a lock at the Loveland Visitors Center and write their names on a lock, then lock their love on the sculpture for an eternity. Be sure to tag #visitloveland and #lovelandlovelocks when you post your pics!

Official Valentine’s Beer

Exclusively available in Loveland for Valentine’s Day, the Bleeding Heart from Grimm Brothers Brewhouse is a one-of-a-kind love potion. Each year Grimm Brothers brews and taps a new Valentine’s Day beer the first day of February, making Loveland a great Valentine’s Day excursion for any beer lover. This year’s brew is a Baltic porter brewed with tart cherry and blackberry. Get it while it lasts on tap in participating Loveland restaurants and bars, and in cans at participating Loveland liquor stores. Experience the romance and excitement of the holiday as you sip on a local crafted brew made with love.

Official Valentine’s Coffee

This Valentine’s Day, Loveland is bringing together the magic of the season with our special seasonal coffee blends. The LoCo Artisan Coffee House, a local Loveland coffee company, produces our unique roast of Valentine’s Day coffee, also sold exclusively in Loveland. The flavor for this season will be announced soon.

Hearts Around Town

Love, and love notes, are in the air: There is a special feeling in the air during valentine’s season in Loveland – one that visitors must experience for themselves. From the giant red hearts with love notes hanging on lampposts, to the red and white twinkling lights lining downtown, Loveland transforms for this romantic holiday. Drive throughout town to read special love notes, or, order your own and search the city with your sweetheart to make the day extra special.

Valentine Re-Mailing Program

Experience the nation’s largest valentine program: For the past 71 years, Loveland has been the nation’s home for Valentine’s Day. Visit in early February and experience the internationally recognized valentine program for yourself. Bring your valentines to receive a special message from the Sweetheart City by one of our ‘angels on earth’ who lovingly hand-stamp valentines from all over the world each year. Deadlines for mailing valentines are available through the Loveland Chamber of Commerce.

Sweetheart Classic 4 Miler

On February 9th get out for a run by yourself, with a friend or as a couple. This year’s race is set to kick off at 2:30 PM in downtown Loveland as part of the Loveland Sweetheart Festival – rain, snow or shine! Fore more information, visit the Sweetheart City Racing website.

Black Valentine Exhibit

Several anti-Valentine celebrations have made their way into the mainstream as post-romance day slams, with people recognizing anything from Flirt Day to Break Up Day the week after February 14. Not everyone loves the holiday or its romantic notions, especially if your heart has been broken. But the Museum’s Black Valentine event won’t be all dark! Share and release your own broken-hearted stories in the “Broken Heart Interactives”. In one space, you can write and “release” your lost love on a floating black heart. In another space, you can “smash” your broken heart as you write your sentiments on a tile and then break the tile to release the pain. If sharing your story isn’t all roses, come enjoy the “Love is a Thug” exhibit by Scott Young, sip on Dark Heart coffee (with alcoholic additions for those over 21) and listen to some Slam Poetry. The event is free and alcohol is available for purchase.
