Love is in the Air and its the perfect time to head to the nation’s Sweetheart City. What should you check out this February? Bring the family, your sweetheart, girlfriends or more for a valentine season you won’t soon forget.
1) The new love lock sculpture
This new heart-shaped sculpture has a grid on the back for people to lock their love for eternity. It will remain in the Downtown Foundry through mid-February and move to Lake Loveland afterward.
2) Hearts all over the city
Only in Loveland can you find hearts with messages of love adorning street poles. Find them throughout the month of February.
3) The Sweetheart Festival
Taking place Feb. 14-15 in downtown, this festival incorporates live music, light shows, pyrotechnics, a kids zone and kids contest, beer garden, Palace of Sweets, art installations and much more.
4) The Annual Group Wedding
As the kick-off to the Sweetheart Festival, the annual group wedding will take place Feb. 14 and is the perfect opportunity for couples to get married or renews their vows in the nation’s Sweetheart City.
5) Valentine beer and wine
Loveland has its own official beer for the season. The Bleeding Heart by Grimm Brothers Brewhouse is a Baltic Porter with tart cherry and blackberry. Sweet Heart Winery produces the official valentine of the season: a 2017 Malbec.
6) Sweetheart blend coffee
Beer and wine are not the only specially-brewed drinks for the season. The Sweetheart Blend from Top of the Lake Coffee Roasters is mint mocha, available for purchase at the Loveland.
7) Meet Loveland’s heart mascot
Valentina, our adorable heart mascot, will be making appearances around Loveland this valentine season. Be sure to follow her on Instagram @lovelandvalentina.
8) Sweetheart Classic 4-Miler
Race as a couple or solo on Feb. 15 – rain, shine or snow! The race kicks off during the Sweetheart Festival in downtown Loveland.
9) Original Love Lock Sculpture
Can’t make it to the festival to lock your love? Stop by the Loveland Visitors Center to buy a lock, step outside and lock your love on our original sculpture. Be sure to tag #lovelandlovelocks!
10) Step back in time for valentine history
Learn more about Loveland’s 74-year valentine history at the Loveland Museum. Find the cachet from your birth year, see a history of Miss Valentine’s and celebrate the season. Free.
