Loveland has a reputation for being one of the best art towns in America. With a world-renowned public art collection, a nationally accredited art and history Museum, and a 1920s historic theater, the arts are an integral part of Loveland’s culture.

Take a glimpse into Loveland’s history. Learn about Mariano Medino and the impact that sugar beets had on Loveland. Explore the vastness of the Big Thompson Valley and all of Loveland’s unique lakes and streams. Get into the valentine spirit and learn how to lovingly stamp the signature Loveland valentine cachet stamp through the Sweetheart City exhibit. Then, head over to take in the impact of art through the current exhibit in the main gallery.

Self-Guided Tour of Loveland’s Downtown Art Galleries: Plan to stay: 1 hour.
Many internationally known and award-winning artists call Loveland home and showcase their artwork in galleries located throughout downtown Loveland. Visitors can view and purchase abstract stone sculpture, stunning photography, colorful blown glass and one-of-a-kind paintings in many established art galleries. We recommend checking out the blocks of 4th to 6th Street and Railroad Avenue to Washington Avenue.

Art ChapunguChapungu Sculpture Park: Plan to stay: 1–1.5 hours.
A sanctuary from the everyday, the 26-acre Chapungu (pronounced cha-poon-goo) Sculpture Park is the only permanent exhibit of its kind in the U.S. Located east of The Promenade Shops at Centerra off Centerra Parkway and Hwy. 34 in Loveland, the public park features 82 African stone sculptures carved by artists from Zimbabwe. The artwork is positioned among water features, a 1.5 mile walking trail, benches for seating and community gathering areas. An interactive map of Chapungu is now available online so you can learn about each piece.

Art BensonBenson Sculpture Garden: Plan to stay: 1.5 hours. Benson Sculpture Garden has provided a beautiful and unique outdoor setting for showcasing sculpture since 1985. Currently there are 144 pieces of beautiful bronze sculpture on permanent display, each telling a unique story. It is here that the Loveland High Plains Arts Council hosts its renowned Sculpture in the Park event each summer. In addition to the Sculpture in the Park, there is also the Loveland Sculpture Invitational Show & Sale and the annual Art in the Park arts & crafts show put on by the Thompson Valley Art League/Lincoln Gallery at North Lake Park during the same time frame. Come to the Benson Sculpture Garden or North Lake Park to see it all during mid-August!

Be sure to check out the web-based app while at Benson Sculpture Garden. This app allows you to get information on each piece of sculpture including the year, name and location. Additional information including audio recordings from the artists will be coming in the future.

Art HeArtCity with HeART Program: Plan to stay 2 hours:
Fiberglass hearts that are 5′ tall and 4.5′ wide are designed and placed around Loveland. Each heart is individually sponsored and artists work with the Chamber of Commerce to come up with designs. A self-guided driving tour of the City with HeART program can be found at the Visitor Center.
