Live Like a Local in Loveland – Jim Edwards
Jim has lived in Loveland for 12 years. He moved here with his family for everything Northern Colorado has to offer. As the owner of Door 222 Food & Drink in downtown Loveland, Jim loves the sense of community at the restaurant and the vibrant energy a restaurant can create.
“I love the small hometown feel of downtown.”

Where are your favorite places to eat and what do you order?
For breakfast, I prefer an oat milk nitro coffee from Dark Heart Coffee Bar. It’s ridiculously good. A simple, authentic Margherita pizza from Origins Wine Bar & Wood Fired Pizza for lunch – sometimes the simplest dishes are the best. Of course for dinner it’s Door 222. I order the brussels sprouts to start, manchego quinoa cakes for an entree with a glass of J vineyards pinot gris and a half baked chocolate cake to finish.
When it is time for some liquid art or liquid therapy, where do you go?
Check out The Laureate Publick House and say “Hi” to Aaron. He knows everything there is to know about beer around the world. Quiz him and tell him Jim sent you.
Where do you love to shop?
I like Little Piece of my Heart for finding a unique, usually humorous gift.
When it is time to have fun, where do you go?
Stand up paddle boarding at Boyd Lake State Park. It’s my favorite place to spend outdoors. Didn’t bring your paddle board you say? Go rent one at Mountain Rentals.
When you have visitors in town, where do you take them?
The downtown breweries are a fun place to take visitors. They are all great and you can’t go wrong with any of them.
If you are willing to share, what do you think are Loveland’s hidden gems or hot spots?
White Groves Barber & Taproom is by far the coolest hidden gem. Get you hair-cut and have a beer in their bar in the back, or just go and have a beer.
Anything else to add that you do to be a tourist in Loveland?
I would recommend coming downtown on a nice Saturday afternoon, walk around with an iced coffee in the morning, at noon find a nice patio for lunch (Door 222 is always a great option), go to a matinee at our new MetroLux Dine-In movie theater, and lastly finish the day with a couple of beers on a brewery patio. Sounds perfect.
