It’s Patio Time in Loveland, Colorado
Patio season is finally here! I’ve lived in Loveland since 2003, and have been on the lookout for good patios since then. I love to dine al fresco and will do so until the patio heaters disappear and the bone-crushing cold forces me inside.
I am not covering all the patios in Loveland because that would be a really long post. If your favorite patio isn’t listed here, please leave the restaurant/bar name in the comments.
Bent Fork Grill
5971 Sky Pond Drive
This is one of my favorite patios in Colorado. It’s located directly in front of the water feature and splash fountains at the Promenade at Centerra, Loveland’s outdoor mall. The Bent Fork is a Colorado-owned business with a second location in Aurora.
The staff is attentive and they have great happy hour food and drink specials. It’s my go-to spot during the sunny summer months.
5915 Sky Pond Drive
Also located at the mall, this large patio may have one of the prettiest views in town. It overlooks Chapungu Sculpture Park and is perfectly situated for dinner before Sounds of Centerra, the summer concert series that occurs on Fridays at the Chapungu.
222 E. 4th Street, #100
When it opened, this restaurant set the bar high for the flourishing dining scene in downtown Loveland. They introduced Loveland to tapas, bacon wrapped dates and entrees such as osso buco and quinoa. I strongly believed that this restaurant, opened in 2012, helped bring about the renaissance of downtown.
Their patio is the place to see and be seen in the summer and during Artwalk on every second Friday of the month. Whether it’s during Artwalk or prior to a concert at the Foote Lagoon on Thursdays, Door 222 offers dining al fresco with a side of festive, downtown atmosphere.
Loveland Tap & Tavern
247 E. 4th Street
It’s only been open since 2017, but I’ve been on this patio quite a few times. The back patio at Loveland Tap & Handle is shielded from the wind and is nice and cozy during most times of the year.
A faux tree with LED lights graces the middle of the outdoor space and it makes the ambiance perfect for happy hour with friends or a late night drink with your sweetheart.
CJ’s Patio Grill
1333 Eagle Drive
The word “patio” is in the name and this south Loveland restaurant delivers. It is located in a King Soopers parking lot but it’s situated on the quiet, south side. It’s a neighborhood joint and dining here means indulging in everything from southwest cuisine to comfort food like meatloaf and mashed potatoes.
Serious Texas Bar-B-Q
201 West 71 Street
Combine great barbeque with cornhole, picnic tables and lush landscaping and there’s no better place to watch the sun go down over the Rocky Mountains than at Serious Texas Bar-B-Q in north Loveland.
The large, north and west facing patio area comes alive during the warm months as people enjoy good company in a fantastic setting.
127 E. 5th Street
Watch the world go by and sip an award-winning craft beer at Verboten in downtown. This patio gets hot when the summer starts to sizzle but it’s one of the first patios I seek out in the springtime. Nothing goes better with a sunlit patio than Verboten’s Thinking of Something Orange, an orange blossom honey wheat beer.
701 N. Clubhouse Drive
Located in west Loveland, at the Mariana Butte Golf Course, a meal on the patio here comes with a spectacular view of rolling green hills. Whether you’ve come for a round of golf, to hit balls at the range, or just to enjoy a beer and a good meal, this is west Loveland’s favorite spot and the patio is hopping during the warm months.
