Children’s Day

The City of Loveland, with the help of the Thompson School District, will celebrate the annual Colorado Children’s Day on Friday, March 1 at various locations throughout the City of Loveland campus.

The event, now in its 17th year, was founded by long-time resident Annie Hall who believed that children deserved a day totally dedicated to their celebration and enjoyment.

Last year, more than 2,500 children and their parents enjoyed this fun-filled annual event that combines fun with hands-on learning and experiential education.

Locations and Activities:

Loveland Museum (503 N. Lincoln)

11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Art & history activities

Chilson Recreation Center (700 E. Fourth St.)

Noon – 2 p.m.

  • FREE youth admission to Chilson Recreation Center (two children per one paid adult)
  • Lego car racing with Play Well TEKnologies
  • Balloon twisting with RJ’s Amazing Entertainment
  • Face Painting with Creative Days
  • Princesses with Wishes Come True Entertainment
  • Kid-friendly cooking demos with Sapna Von Reich
  • Starting New at Golf (SNAG)
  • Casting clinic presented by Open Lands & Trails and
  • Sports outside (weather permitting)
  • Program/class demos and booths

Loveland Library (300 N. Adams)

Noon – 2 p.m.

Dr. Seuss activities and story times, Thompson School District info booth, Small Fries Preschool info booth

 

Traffic Operations Center (105 W. Fifth St.)

10 a.m. – noon

16-foot “big screen,” touch-a-truck or school bus, mini bike rodeo

 

Public Works (2525 W. First St.)

10 a.m. – noon

Plow and trash touch- a-truck, Water & Power demos, Stormwater puppet show

 

Fire Station #1 (410 E. Fifth St.)

11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Police and Fire touch-a-truck, kettle corn, Police robot demos

 

Parking will be available in City of Loveland lots and along city streets. View the map of downtown parking.

 

Representatives from City departments including Cultural Services, Facilities Management, Fire Rescue Authority, Library, Parks and Recreation, Police, Streets and Traffic, Stormwater and Water & Power work with the Thompson School District to plan and hold Colorado Children’s Day every year.
